Busy weeks

Last week I was busy finishing the last assignment of  my coursework for my degree. Only one final big essay to go, and I’m done. In the meantime I’ve been juggling projects:

The Discovery of Kate

The Discovery of Kate by E L Haverfield has gone live on Kindle.

Spirit Wings by Adrianne Fitzpatrick is now available in print and electronic format. The Handsome Hardcastles

Copies of The Handsome Hardcastles by E M Channon have arrived from the printer, and all pre-orders have been dispatched.

Destiny’s Revenge, the sequel to Destiny’s Rebel, by Philip S Davies, is in the final stages of checking before going to print. The book launch will take place in Oxford on 10 June 2017. All are welcome. The cover reveal is coming soon!

Emma Graham is working on the cover for Eleanor Watkins’ sequel to The Village, and it looks amazing!

I’m a little behind on responding to submissions at the moment, but I expect to get back to everyone by the end of next week.

Spirit Wings

Spirit Wings by Adrianne Fitzpatrick

In a slight departure from our usual publishing, I’ve uploaded to Kindle a fantasy novella that I wrote some years ago for a competition. It came first and was subsequently published, slightly abridged, in the Australian spec-fic magazine, Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine (now just called Andromeda Spaceways). I’ve now made it available again in its unabridged form. Suitable for both adults and YA.

I apologise for not updating the news page for so long. Between working on the final year of my degree and continuing with independent publishing as well as commissioned projects, life has been rather hectic. I’ve also been trying to streamline the website to make it easier to find things.

Since my last update, we have seen the launch of Wendy H Jones’s The Dagger’s Curse in Dundee, Scotland, and she’s busy working on the second book in the series.

The Handsome Hardcastles

In the reprints, we’ve had E M Channon’s A Countess at School and Evelyn Smith’s The Little Betty Wilkinson come out late last year, and E M Channon’s The Handsome Hardcastles, one of her rarest titles, will be available by the end of next week.

Books for Kindle over the last few months include titles by Dorothea Moore, Raymond Jacberns, E M Channon, Evelyn Smith, Winifred Norling, E E Cowper, Ethel Talbot, Theodora Wilson Wilson, E L Haverfield and Bessie Marchant.

Destiny’s Revenge, the sequel to Destiny’s Rebel, by Philip S Davies will be launched in June at Blackwell’s, Oxford (more details to follow), and we also have an as yet untitled sequel to Eleanor Watkins’ The Village, which we hope will be out later this year.

With several other books at various stages of editing, we have all been kept very busy.

Teresa Bassett

I’m delighted to welcome Teresa Bassett to the Books to Treasure fold, with her award winning novel The Time Crystals.

How can it be award winning when it hasn’t been published, you ask? Teresa’s novel was a finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and winner of international competition The Next Novelist. Well done, Teresa, and I’m honoured to be able to be able to publish this brilliant story. The Time Crystals will be out next year.

Still working

I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post. This has been a rather chaotic year, but rewarding nevertheless. We have signed two new authors (details coming soon) and are in negotiations with another couple. Exciting times ahead!

On the reprint front, we’ve negotiated the rights to start reprinting Winifired Norling and hope to have the first of her titles available for Kindle in the next few months.

The entrance to Boscastle

The entrance to Boscastle

My daughter flew out from Australia to spend a couple of weeks with me, and we went to Cornwall for a couple of days, but now I’m back into work mode.

Philip S Davies has turned in the manuscript Destiny’s Revenge, the sequel to Destiny’s Rebel, and it’s gone for line editing. It’s due out in September, so watch out for that. Emma Graham is working on the cover, so we’ll show you that when it’s ready. And the third book in the trilogy should be out next year.

And the submissions pile is almost cleared …

When it all bunches together …

The last few weeks have rushed by in something of a whirlwind. There were all those last minute fiddly tasks before sending books to print, sending out review copies, preparing the book launches, attending Philip S Davies’ launch of Destiny’s Rebel at the wonderful Blackwell’s in Oxford, rushing to Swanwick for the Christian Resources Together (CRT) Retreat (or Trade Show) where Books to Treasure had an exhibitors’ table, then finally a few days of well earned rest (is a holiday ever really a rest?) before getting back to the grindstone.

Philip’s launch went extremely well, and we received the news the following Monday that Destiny’s Rebel had hit the #1 spot for the week in the YA category. So exciting after just a couple of hours’ trading! And several weeks later it’s still showing as a ‘best seller’.

The CRT retreat was busy and very productive. It was lovely to finally meet Eleanor Watkins, author of The Village, and a great opportunity to talk to other industry professionals, from publishers, booksellers right through to writers.

I was exhausted by the time I came home again, took a couple of days to tidy up and recover then headed for St Michael’s Mount for a very brief holiday …

… and a few days to recover from my holiday, and now we’re back!

Copies of Ethel Talbot’s The New Girl at the Priory have been delivered and all pre-ordered copies have been posted. Order your copy here.

Next on our list is Nicky of the Lower Fourth, by Evelyn Smith, which will be published towards the end of November.

The Wrenford Tradition

The Wrenford Tradition

Dorothea Moore’s extremely rate title, The Wrenford Tradition, is officially in print today, and all pre-ordered copies have been sent out. If you’ve never read this one, you’re in for a treat. It’s a delightful story. I’m surprised it was never reprinted before this.

Under attack

I apologise to those of you who tried to access the site earlier today (and yesterday as well, for that matter) and found us missing in action. Apparently the website host has been experiencing repeated network attacks over the last 24 hours. We seem to be back up and running as normal now, so hopefully that means any threat has been dealt with. Emails were also down for the same duration. While some are beginning to filter through now, if you’ve emailed and not had a reply in a timely manner, do send again.
